Travelers called the island of Java in Indonesia the best in the world. This writes Travel and Leisure.
Every year, the publication for travelers conducts a survey among its readers to find out the best destinations for recreation and to name the winners of its own awards World Awards. This time tourists appreciated the most famous Islands in the world. There were several criteria, including attractions, beaches, cuisine, the attitude of local residents, etc.
The highest rating was awarded to the Indonesian island of Java. Travelers especially highlighted its ancient culture, exciting attractions and modern hotels. According to the newspaper, waterfalls, volcanoes, natural parks and white sand beaches allow tourists to forget about everything in Java. The island is currently home to about 140 million people.
The second and third place went to two more Indonesian Islands. It is a popular Bali and located five hours away on the ferry to Lombok island.
Also in the top 15 included the Maldives, Waiheke in New Zealand, the Philippines Palawan and Cebu, Mauritius, Greek Paros in the South-Western part of the Saronic Gulf. The top Tasmanian Islands in Australia, the Galapagos Islands, cook Islands, Orkney Islands in Scotland, Maui in Hawaii and the Azores in Portugal complete the ranking.
